Wild Chicory | Cichorium intybus
Wild Chicory, is a somewhat woody, herbaceous plant that belongs to the sunflower and daisy family called Asteraceae, close cousins to lettuce and dandelions. Chicory plant is indigenous to Europe, India, and Egypt. It was presented to the US during the 19th century. It usually grows as a weed in temperate climates and is extensively grown in northern Europe. Chicory is now common in North America, China, and Australia, where it has become widely established.
