Galega officinalis, commonly known as goats rue is a herbaceous plant in the Fabaceae ⁄ Leguminosae (Pea family). The plant is native to temperate grassland regions of Middle East, but has been naturalized in Europe and western Asia. It has also been found in South America, North Africa, Pakistan, Turkey, and New Zealand. The plant has been extensively cultivated as a forage crop, an ornamental, a bee plant, and as green manure.
